The Power of Clarity
Many people don't have a clear vision of what they really want in life. You can't achieve what you can't envision.
With clarity, we can actually make progress towards a desired future.
The best thing we can do is to become as clear as possible about what we want. Then take focused action on achieving it.
How To Get Clarity
We previously looked at the foundational questions of "What is your purpose?" and "What is your dream?" At the beginning of my journey, the answers to these two questions were unclear, and uncertain. However, there was enough clarity to take action.
A purpose and a dream are enough to get started.
Some of the questions I asked myself were:
What do I want?
Why do I want it?
What is worthwhile?
What resonates with me?
What am I willing to commit to?
What would my life look like in a year if I followed my dream?
Once we answer enough questions, we will have enough clarity to assemble a list of things we can begin to explore.
Take Action
Having a dream is where we start. But building a dream is where we test our vision.
We might determine our chosen path is not really what we want. This is not a failure, it’s ruling out something decisively. We are clear that’s not the way! And then we pick the next right path.
Ongoing Process
Clarity is not a destination. Clarity is an ongoing process of experimentation, discovery, insight, and refinement.
I have tried, with due diligence, many things. I have eliminated many possibilities along the way. Yes, it was emotionally frustrating at times. I wondered if I would ever figure out what I'm supposed to do (the things that bring me fulfillment). But with every dead end, I always relied upon the power of calling. I was sure I had a calling, so if one path ended, my only choice was to pick a new path. This is the dreamer's journey.
Finally
Following our dreams should be exciting and challenging. There is much to explore and there are many experiments to perform. Clarity is not a gift, it is something we work for. It might take months or years to gain greater clarity. But this is true: If we continue, clarity will increase along the way.
Once we obtain a sufficient amount of clarity we can make progress with more power. With every increase in clarity, we have a corresponding increase in power.
As the months and years go by, we should update our purpose and dream to reflect what we have learned.
As long as we believe we have a calling, we have the power to continue.
To your success!
