The Mystery of Finding a Mentor

When all else fails sometimes we do things out of desperation. Sometimes we have to build up our courage and take a leap of faith.

But sometimes the way we view a problem can change. How cool is that?

I Have a Problem

I must confess. I am jealous. I have read the stories about how people are helped by others along their journey. I wonder if I will have my own stories. This part of the success journey has been a bit of a mystery to me.

I have tried to mentor others hoping at some point they would grow and maybe we could find ways to help each other. But that hasn't happened.

I have tried to connect with networking groups, but I haven't found any meaningful connections.

Connecting with people is not a piece of cake for me. I like working alone. But I realize that connecting is growing.

Change of Approach

Epiphany, revelation, whatever you want to call it. Sometimes things just shift.

I recently had a mindset shift. In studying success I know that most leaders love to help people grow and help people make connections. Up to this point I have been making random connections. I realized I needed to change my approach.

I decided to go directly to a leader of a group I'm connected with. I briefly explained my situation and I asked "can you help direct me to someone who might be able to help?" The answer was yes. A few days later the leader connected me with someone that was happy to help. That was easy.

It's amazing how a mindset shift can cause a breakthrough on problems we have been struggling with for a while.

Takeaway

It might feel like we are struggling, but what is happening is our brains are getting rewired. Then all of the sudden we see. The key is to keep going.

To your success!
