I am ordinary. I was not born into a dynasty. I was not identified as having extraordinary talents in my childhood. I didn't make great grades in school. I'm not popular or charismatic. I don't walk around in a purple suit and sport neon glasses. I don't care much for attention. I like a quiet peaceful life. And none of this matters for success.
There has always been in me a sense of purpose. A sense that I have something unique to give. I have a role to play. It's a calling (energy/power/instinct) to move forward and trust my heart. I have always trusted in the sense of purpose, even though I still don't fully understand it. I am not unique in sensing a call to something greater. I believe everyone has a "calling," but we must choose to respond.
I believe that success is not reserved for the chosen, the brilliant or charismatic, the inventors or investors. Success is reserved for all who seek it.
Do Ordinary Things Extraordinarily Well
A key principle for success is to do ordinary things extraordinarily well. When we apply this principle, the ordinary becomes extraordinary.
This quote from Jim Rohn really appeals to me:
"To be successful you don't need to do extraordinary things, you just need to do ordinary things extraordinarily well." -Jim Rohn
And this quote by Zig Ziglar:
"I believe success is achieved by ordinary people with extraordinary determination." -Zig Ziglar
Ordinary Makes the World Go Around
Being ordinary is not a limitation. It doesn't mean we're stuck. It doesn't mean we'll never achieve anything worthwhile. It doesn't mean we'll never be prosperous.
The majority of the world runs through ordinary means. Ordinary makes the world go around!
We are successful when we serve in ordinary ways. We are successful when we become students of success. We are successful when we do ordinary things extraordinarily well.
To your success!
To make a dream real, it must have a foundation.
That is what my book "Becoming a Builder - How to build a foundation for your dreams" is all about. Read it here (as I am editing it!). I would appreciate feedback! Just reply to this email.
