I Had Dreams Wrong
For most of my life I had dreams confused with making a living.
We get bombarded with dream messages constantly. These messages associate dreams with the things they want to sell us. There’s the “Be an entrepreneur and change the world” message. There’s also the dream car, dream house, dream body, dream spouse, and dream lifestyle message. With all these messages it’s easy to associate money with dreams.
Dreams aren’t about riches. Dreams are about expressing our talents and deep desires in a way that is satisfying to us and is a benefit to others.
Some way, somehow, we find a way to make our dreams happen.
Dreams Aren't Jobs
I have a friend who is a reiki master. She quit her corporate job and followed her desire to heal. She earns money through pet sitting and house sitting in order to supplement her reiki practice. She lives on one miracle after another. This is what a dream looks like. Dreams are not dependent on monetary outcomes.
Some people don't even consider their dreams because they know they wouldn't provide for their needs. Our dreams are not meant to be a beast of burden to carry the weight of providing for food and shelter.
Be free from the false belief that your dream must provide your income, provide medical insurance, fund your vacations, put your kids through college, and fund your retirement.
Fund Your Dreams
If we are the founders of our dream, then we are the funders of our dream.
Our jobs or careers can be the seed funding for our dreams. If we really believe in our dreams, we will invest in ourselves.
If we don’t invest in our dreams, why should anyone invest or believe in us?
Dreams Evolve
Even if you are clear about your dream, it still might evolve. Pursuing our dreams is a refining process; it causes us to grow. As we grow, our dreams can change.
At one point I thought about being a travel writer. But after a few years I had to face the fact that I didn’t like to be on the road all the time. It was fun, but it wasn’t sustainable, because it wasn’t me.
I have experimented with many ideas over the years. Like Edison trying different filaments for his light bulb, I had to try each of my ideas, and keep trying until I solved the puzzle.
Finally
Our dreams are not meant to be a beast of burden to carry the weight of providing for food and shelter.
Our dreams can manifest in many ways. If you are talented in running a business, then more than likely, your dream might manifest as a business.
We shouldn’t disregard our dreams if they weren’t meant to generate an income. But don’t rule out the possibility.
I believe that within our dream is a seed. And when that seed takes root in our heart, it has everything it needs to grow.
To your success!
