Winning is about living each day on purpose
Life is a mystery. It ticks along every day, with us, or without us. I remember as a child, sitting on my brother's front porch and watching the non-stop flow of cars on the highway. It never stops. Where is everyone going?
Today, the cars are still flowing, the roads are wider, things have only gotten faster, and life is still a mystery. So I look for ways to simplify.
My daily practice of success is founded on three core activities: create, serve, and invest (CSI).
1. Create
As children, we were given blocks to build castles and crayons to make art. We are encouraged to create things every day. Then, little by little, the play turned into work.
We all need to work. But we need to dream too.
A dream helps get back the creativity we may have lost. It turns work back into play. Whatever your dream may be: writing, photography, building, cooking, teaching, designing, restoring, etc, create something every day.
2. Serve
First, if we have a mindset of "How can I be of service today?" we can never lose. It keeps us humble and grateful. We can smile at a stranger. We can encourage a friend. We can be available to our family. We can participate in community. An attitude of service wins every day.
Secondly, we serve through our purpose. We use our skills, wisdom, experience, and knowledge to help people get what they want. Exercising our purpose is where abundance begins.
To serve doesn't mean to take orders and do things we don't want to do. It doesn't mean to work for free, or give until it hurts. We serve out of abundance.
Service makes sense if we can tie it to our purpose.
3. Invest
The best investment we can make is to invest in ourselves.
Anything that helps us see our world in a new way, gain knowledge and insight, and achieve beyond what we thought was possible, is priceless.
The coolest things about continuous learning are the revelations and mindset shifts we experience.
No Zero Days
If we can create, serve, and invest every day that would be amazing! But even if we can only do one of the three we can still make progress.
I ran across the "No Zero Days" idea a few years ago. Those three simple words, written by Reddit member ryans01, created quite a buzz many years ago.
"A zero day is when you don't do a single *** thing towards whatever dream or goal or want or whatever that you got going on. No more zeros. ... you have to make yourself, promise yourself, that the new SYSTEM you live in is a NON-ZERO system. Didn’t do anything all *** day and it's 11:58 PM? Write one sentence. One pushup. Read one page of that chapter. One. Because one is non zero. [Progress] happens from a massive string of CONSISTENT NON ZEROS. That's rule number one." (src)
Finally
There are many other wins we can have no matter how good or bad the day is. But these three things are easy to remember; create, serve, and invest.
To your success!
What is your dream?
My dream is to write small but powerful books on success and plant them like seeds.
