Some people never make it to the starting line. Some children die from disease. Some people get caught up in addictions that become the focus of their lives. That is a sad reality. But there is another reality. What if people have the opportunity to pursue a greater life and never get around to it?
If we have the freedom and opportunity to choose to pursue a greater life, that is profound. This alone is a powerful reason to take up the call to pursue a greater life and honor those who never got a chance.
Building and maintaining a daily attitude of gratitude is a powerful practice. Practice gratitude long enough and it becomes a habit. Neglect gratitude and complaining, resentment, and bitterness will fill the void. Without gratitude, we will never appreciate what we have or what we work for. Gratitude is a key practice of a master.
An attitude of gratitude will keep us on solid ground. It will pick us up when we get knocked down. It will protect us from the temptation of jealousy and comparison. It will comfort us when we are frustrated and tired. An attitude of gratitude is the power to keep things in the proper perspective. Gratitude is freedom. Freedom is power. A master knows his sources of power.
Let's persevere when we feel like complaining about how hard the journey is. Let's stay grounded and grateful. Let’s remember the people who never got a chance. Let’s do what we can, with what we have, while we can. And let’s encourage others along the way.
To your success!
